Here you are. You’ve gotten through the first half of the semester with no worries because, hey, you’ll have all second half of the semester to worry. But it’s the week of the midterm, and you know you need to turn things around.

The overwhelming smell of fried dough hits, and it’s like walking into a excellent dream. Everyone in the room is laughing. No one takes anyone else too seriously. There is talk of Assassin's Creed and enough flour to recreate the cover of an Al Pacino movie. To-do lists written on white paper bags hang on the wall with Scotch tape.  

Millions of kids wake up Christmas morning without any presents, but — with the help of Belmont students — Operation Christmas Child is working on changing that.  

Whether it’s signaling the passage of time, ringing out Christmas carols or even themes from Star Wars, the sound of Belmont’s carillon has become as identifiable as the tower that houses it.
